MEC spelled out with people

Dear Families,

I grew up watching Boxing as it was quite popular in Panama. Though I didn’t really enjoy Boxing, Muhammad Ali and Roberto Duran were my favorites. I found the two to be inspirational in many ways. Today, I came across a quote by Muhammad Ali, “Don’t count the days, Make the days count.”
As I am sitting in my office reflecting on the week, I thought, “Yes, that’s exactly what we do at MEC. We work hard to make each day count for each student! School is not just a place to learn academics and learn how to collaborate with others. It should also be a place to create experiences that shape our lens on life.
Friday afternoon, we had the most amazing Hispanic Heritage Celebration! We toured our way through Latin America eating delicious samples of “Platos tipicos.” Each child had a passport and as they sampled foods for one of the 12 Latin American countries represented here at MEC, they had their passports stamped! The food was amazing are we all had a great time with the drummers from Thurgood Marshall High School, who are also Newcomer students, playing music for us.
Thank you to all who contributed food and time to make this event a success!

Wishing you an amazing week!
