Ruth Asawa School of the Arts
The Ruth Asawa School of the Arts is a San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), public high school (grades 9 - 12), offering a rigorous college preparatory curriculum in addition to visual and performing art classes daily.
Current 8th grade students with a strong interest in a single art discipline are encouraged to apply and audition for 9th grade.
- Applicants must live in San Francisco and AUDITION to be considered for placement.
- Students AUDITION into a single art department/strand (8 art departments/10 strands) and continue in that department for four years.
- All AUDITIONING students are considered no matter their experience or arts background.
- Students attending Asawa SOTA are expected to perform and/or rehearse outside the regular school hours.
- There are 175 spots for incoming 9th grade students. Tenth (10th), eleventh (11th), and twelfth (12th) grade students are considered if space is available.
- Asawa SOTA has an early Application and Audition Assignment deadline, December 13, 2024 at 5:00 p.m., for the 2025-26 school year.
