What is the Fa'aSamoa Initiative?
The Fa'aSamoa Initiative grew from the 2018 SFUSD HAPI Resolution, championed by Commissioners Hydra Mendoza and Stevon Cook with support from NHPI community, to ensure equitable support for Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students, families, and staff.
In 2020, Commissioner Chief Fotuali'i Faauuga Moliga deepened this commitment by building a PreK–14 educational pathway rooted in Samoan indigenous culture and values — Aganu'u — honoring community wisdom as the foundation for closing the academic opportunity gap for Samoan students.
Pre-Kindergarten Samoan Dual Language Pathway
