CAC MONTHLY UPDATE Link to this section
Hello CAC Community!
Happy Spring! It is time to spring forward and be gentle with ourselves and our children as we all adjust to the time change. Change seems to be all around us. In the Chinese Zodiac this is the year of the Fire Horse, a time of intense, fast paced energy.
The best way I know to get through times of change is self care, connecting with people in my community and advocating for change. Luckily for us all, the 25th Annual IRC is happening next Saturday. This one of a kind event brings together everyone in the disability community, parents can find community and collect resources and information from the 70+ exhibitors and learn about all the amazing resources here in our city. Come join us to take care of yourself, find community and get tools to increase your advocacy! (Register by March 7th to request translation.)
Thank you to all who attended the February 26th CAC meeting "All About Behavior." As a reminder, the next monthly meeting topic will be on Regional Center Services and will be held on March 26th. If you missed previous meetings and are interested in watching the recording or viewing the slides, please visit the CAC meeting archives.

PURPOSE OF THE CAC Link to this section
The purpose of the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for Special Education is to champion effective special education programs and services and advise the Board of Education on priorities in the Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).
The State Education Code mandates that each SELPA have a CAC and that a majority of CAC members are parents of students with disabilities.
Joining the CAC gives community members an opportunity to have their opinions heard and make a difference in the way special education is conducted in our area. Find out more on the CAC membership page.
