Who We Are

AccessSFUSD: The Arc, located in the heart of the SOMA district, has a rich tradition of delivering functional and engaging curriculum to our diverse student population.  We involve our students in community based opportunities which promote the joy of learning while addressing students' individual needs. 

What is C.A.R.E.?

There are three Centers for Academic Re-entry and Empowerment (CARE) programs in different parts of San Francisco. These programs are a partnership between the San Francisco County Office of Education (part of SFUSD) and the Y of San Francisco. The Bayview Hunters Point YMCA has one small high school and a middle school. There is also another high school campus located at the Buchanan YMCA. The CARE programs serve students who have missed significant amounts of school or dropped out entirely. 

June Jordan School for Equity was explicitly designed as a school rooted in equity and social justice. It was founded through a community organizing effort by a group of teachers, parents, and youth.  The goal of June Jordan was to provide a better educational experience for students who were not being appropriately served in traditional schools. As a school for social justice, we are committed to serving working-class, communities of color (Latinx, Pilipinx, Black and Pacific Islander).

Truly Individualized Education

Located in the heart of San Francisco, Wallenberg offers a rigorous educational program that prepares our diverse students for success in college, careers, and life. We provide students with a supportive, safe and caring small school environment that emphasizes academics, athletics, the arts, and student involvement in clubs and extracurricular activities. We offer AP courses in all core subjects. Students are challenged and inspired by a dedicated and talented faculty and staff.

A little VVMS/ Big Viz history and then some:

SF International is a small school that offers a unique program designed for recent immigrant students who have attended school in the United States for four years or less. SF International teachers are specially trained to offer extra support to help every student develop their academic English skills while they learn the content they need to graduate and be prepared for college.

O’Connell offers an innovative instructional model to prepare all students for college and the professional world. Students participate in rigorous project-based learning, build enduring relationships, and develop 21st century skills. At O'Connell, we believe every student should be able to make choices about his or her future, and define (rather than wait for) opportunities. Our students are prepared to enter post-secondary options of four-year universities, community colleges, or livable wage careers.

Mission is located in front of the beautiful Dolores Park where the neighborhoods of the Mission, Noe Valley, and the Castro meet. The campus is accessible from all parts of the City with its central location. We instill positive social values, acceptance, and an appreciation for the diversity represented at Mission. Our academic focus school-wide is aimed at preparing ALL of our students for college and careers with rigorous courses including a rich array of AP and honors courses.

Founded in 1856 in San Francisco, Lowell High School is the oldest public high school west of the Mississippi. It is ranked as one of the highest performing public high schools in California, and has been recognized 4 times as a National Blue Ribbon School, 8 times as a California Distinguished School, and one time as a Gold Ribbon School. Lowell has been consistently ranked #1 in the Western Region for the number of Advanced Placement Exams given.
