Every day counts for learning, and for building the relationships with teachers and friends that support long-term academic progress.

Here’s what you can do to help your student build good attendance habits:

  1. Stay informed about your student’s attendance to be sure absences aren’t adding up.  The ParentVue system can help you track your child’s attendance – and make a correction if you think the school has made a mistake. Make sure your account is active and your information is current, and sign up for text alerts to stay informed. Visit the ParentVue family portal
  2. Talk about the importance of showing up – for success in school and life, and for building relationships with teachers and friends.
  3. Set the expectation that unless your child is sick, they should be in school every day.
  4. Set a regular bedtime and morning routine to help your child be ready and rested.
  5. Prepare for school day the night before, and build in a little extra time in case there is traffic or other delays.
  6. Make a backup plan for getting your student to school if something comes up. Have a family member, neighbor, or another parent you can call to help out.
  7. Try to schedule medical appointments and extended trips when school isn’t in session.
