Learn about education enrichment opportunities at selected museums across San Francisco during school closures:
Asian Art Museum Free Admission during School Closures
In response to SFUSD school closures the Asian Art Museum is expanding free admission on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays (museum closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) to support families during this unexpected disruption.
For the duration of the closures, the museum will offer:
- Free general admission for all visitors 18 years and younger on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays (museum closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays); must be accompanied by an adult
- Free general admission for accompanying adult guardians
- No reservations required – simply check in at the admissions desk during the museum’s public hours

Exploratorium Free Tuesday-Friday for Youth
During the strike, the Exploratorium is offering free daytime admission for youth and $5 off the regular ticket price for accompanying adults.
- Offer valid Tuesday-Friday, during daylight hours, while strike is continuing
- Be prepared to show SFUSD student ID at entrance/ticketing
- Let ticketing staff know at time of purchase that you're visiting due to the SFUSD strike

Be sure to check the scheduling to confirm if the museum is open that day, before heading out:
- The California Academy of Sciences is offering free admission to students under 17 during the weekday, plus discounts for accompanying guardians.
- SFMOMA always has free tickets for kids 18 and under, but for every six kids, an adult must also be in attendance.
- According to the de Young Museum’s notice, “General admission is always free for students 17 and under. During the SFUSD closures, free admission for an accompanying parent or guardian is also available on-site, [Tuesday through Friday.]”
- Legion of Honor also has free general admission for students 17 or under. “During the SFUSD closures, free admission for an accompanying parent or guardian is also available on-site, [Tuesday to Friday.]”
- YBCA in the Yerba Buena Gardens area has free entry for young people 17 and under. On Wednesday, admission is free for everyone.
- MoAD is free for youth under 12. For students age 12 and over, tickets are $12.
- Tickets are free for children 5 and under at the Walt Disney Family Museum.
