Dear SFUSD Community:
Happy last day of the 2025-26 school year!
As we come to the end of another rewarding year, I want to thank our students, educators, staff, and families for everything you have done to make this a successful school year. Together, we have upheld our SFUSD core values and collectively demonstrated the hard work, resilience, and commitment that define our community.
I was proud to give SFUSD a voice in our nation’s capital today. In the 18 months since I became superintendent, we have made significant progress. We have returned our focus to rigorous academics—prioritizing excellence in reading, writing, and math. We have stabilized the district’s finances. We have built trust with parents and families. We have done all of this while creating a safe and welcoming environment where our 50,000 SFUSD students—from all backgrounds, neighborhoods, and beliefs—can learn.
I am proud to lead SFUSD, and I hope that I made SFUSD proud today.
There is always more work to do and more ways to improve, but today is also a time to celebrate how far we have come together. Our progress would not be possible without the strong partnerships we have built with families, educators, and community supporters. Thank you for your dedication and belief in our students.
I wish everyone a joyful, restful, and well-deserved summer. Congratulations on a successful school year, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall.
Sincerely,
Dr. Maria Su
SFUSD Superintendent
