All meals served by SFUSD Student Nutrition Services, regardless of school site, meet the nutrition, caloric, and meal component guidelines set by the USDA, CDSS, CDE, and the SFUSD Wellness Policy and Nutrition Guidelines. All meals are made without the ingredients on our Never Ever List.
Student Nutrition Services is proud to offer free, nutritious meals to students, regardless of income or background. All SFUSD students have access to 1 free Breakfast and 1 free Lunch every school day. A complete Breakfast must include 1 breakfast item (muffin, cereal, breakfast burrito, etc.) and 1 fruit. A complete Lunch must include 1 entree (grain and protein) and 1 fruit and/or veggie. Students may only take 1 entree per day to ensure all students who would like a meal have the opportunity to take one.
We encourage students to take all available meal components to feel as nourished as possible.
We operate meal service in a model called Offer versus Serve, which means we offer the required meal components (many times a variety of each meal component), and students are able to make the choice of which options of a complete meal to take. See here for the posters that describe what that means for Breakfast and Lunch.
You can find all school food menus at sfusd.edu/menus.
