Announcement Message

The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is opening a new TK-8 Mandarin Immersion school in Fall 2027. The school will launch at a temporary site at 1670 Noe St. with transitional kindergarten (TK) and kindergarten students. It will then move to a permanent home, adding one grade each year until it reaches full enrollment in 2035.

A public process to choose a permanent location

Members include current and prospective SFUSD families, educators, school administrators, community leaders, and District staff.

  1. Serena Chan, Counselor, San Francisco International High School
  2. Paula Antram, Principal, Jose Ortega Elementary School
  3. Jose Gomez-Melendez, SFUSD Multilingual Pathways Department
  4. Liana Szeto, Founding Principal, Alice Fong Yu Alternative School
  5. Abby Chao, prospective SFUSD parent and co-founder, Friends of the SF Mandarin School
  6. Frank Lara, current SFUSD parent and Executive Vice President of UESF
