School-Sponsored Activities & Clubs

No Discrimination in School-Sponsored Activities & Clubs

SFUSD seeks to provide a school environment that allows all students equal access and opportunities in the district's academic and other educational support programs, services, and activities. This includes ensuring that all District schools, programs, activities, and practices are free from unlawful discrimination. All school-sponsored activities are open to any student who wishes to participate to forward the mission or objective of the activity or club. School-sponsored clubs and activities do not limit participation or affiliation based on race, ethnicity, gender, or any other protected class.

For more information, please refer to SFUSD's policies on non-discrimination and harassment.

Use the Student and Family Resource Link below or tell your principal if you feel you were wrongly excluded from a school sponsored activity or club.

No Fees for Essential School Activities

All students have a right to take part in educational activities at school without paying a fee, deposit or other charge. An "educational activity" is an activity offered by a school or school district that is an integral part of a student's education, including, but not limited to, curricular and extracurricular activity. Schools cannot charge or request a deposit for materials, physical education uniforms or graduation caps and gowns that are required to take part in an educational activity.

If you were charged a fee this school year for an educational activity that is an integral part of your child’s education, you may request a reimbursement from your child’s principal and/or file a uniform complaint.
