Winter Break

Winter Break will be from 12/22/2025 to 01/02/2026. School resumes Monday 01/05/2026. MLK MS wishes everyone a safe and wonderful winter break! 

Reading Reminder: Please remind your child to read everyday! Your student should be reading 4 to 5 days a week for 30 minutes. If your child needs books, please check books out  from the public library. 

Letter regarding School Planning after Board of Education Meeting

Greetings MLK Community,

On Tuesday December 16, 2025, the San Francisco Board of Education met and discussed the San Francisco Unified School District’s Fiscal Stabilization Plan. The presented plan included many cuts affecting a number of MLK Staff. During the public comment period, a record number of students attended in person to make their voices heard, advocating for what students believed helped their educational experience. 

After a long discussion, the Board voted 0 Yes / 6 No and rejected the plan. While the plan has been currently rejected, we are not sure what effect it has on our school planning. 

We do encourage families to complete the budget survey, and attend the meetings in January. Please respond to this survey to let MLK MS know what the priorities should be for the upcoming school year. https://forms.gle/jB5rVKFcgsJAkD2L9

Please note, the meeting schedule for planning for the next school year is as follows:

• January 15, 2026 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM School Site Summit Meeting In Person at MLK MS
• January 22, 2026 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM Principal’s Coffee Chat
• January 29, 2026 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM Online Zoom

All families are invited and encouraged to attend these meetings.

教育委員會會議後關於學校規劃的信函

親愛的馬丁路德金社群成員們：

2025年12月16日星期二，三藩市教育委員會召開會議，討論了三藩市聯合學區的財政穩定計劃。該計劃包含多項削減措施，影響馬丁路德金中學的許多教職員。在公眾發言環節，創紀錄數量的學生親自到場，表達他們的意見，支持他們認為有助於提升自身教育體驗的措施。

經過長時間的討論，委員會以0票贊成、6票反對的結果否決了該計劃。雖然該計劃目前已被否決，但我們尚不確定它會對學校的規劃產生何種影響。

Vacaciones de invierno

Las vacaciones de invierno serán del 12/22/2025 al 01/02/2026. La escuela se reanuda el Lunes 02 de enero de 2026. ¡MLK MS les desea a todos unas vacaciones de invierno seguras y maravillosas!

Recordatorio de lectura: ¡Recuérdele a su hijo que lea todos los días! Su estudiante debe leer de 4 a 5 días a la semana durante 30 minutos. Si su hijo necesita libros, sáquelos de la biblioteca pública.

Carta sobre la planificación escolar después de la reunión de la Junta de Educación

Saludos, Comunidad de MLK,

El martes 16 de diciembre de 2025, la Junta de Educación de San Francisco se reunió para discutir el Plan de Estabilización Fiscal del Distrito Escolar Unificado de San Francisco. El plan presentado incluyó numerosos recortes que afectaron a varios miembros del personal de MLK. Durante el período de comentarios públicos, un número récord de estudiantes asistió en persona para expresar su opinión y defender lo que consideraban que había mejorado su experiencia educativa.

Tras un largo debate, la Junta votó 0 Sí y 6 No y rechazó el plan. Si bien el plan ha sido rechazado, no estamos seguros de su impacto en la planificación escolar.

Animamos a las familias a completar la encuesta sobre el presupuesto y a asistir a las reuniones de enero. Por favor, responda a esta encuesta para informar a la Escuela Secundaria MLK cuáles deberían ser las prioridades para el próximo año escolar. https://forms.gle/jB5rVKFcgsJAkD2L9

El calendario de reuniones para la planificación del próximo año escolar es el siguiente:
