Who We Are

AccessSFUSD: The Arc, located in the heart of the SOMA district, has a rich tradition of delivering functional and engaging curriculum to our diverse student population.  We involve our students in community based opportunities which promote the joy of learning while addressing students' individual needs. 

The mission of Hilltop Special Service Center is to provide a safe academic environment where students have the opportunity to prepare for post-secondary education, meet graduation requirements, access quality prenatal and parenting education, and receive health and emotional support services. Our students are provided with a supportive community where they can work towards completion of high school graduation requirements and receive assistance to become responsible, effective parents.

The mission of Yick Wo Elementary School is to foster lifelong learning by providing enriching academic, social, emotional, artistic and physical development experiences to every student.

Borrowing from the thoughts of Robert Louis Stevenson, we believe that we are a success when we leave the world better than we found it, if we look for the best in others and give the best we have. Our mission to guide the development of a well-rounded human being who has the ability, skills, and attitude to contribute positively to self, family, community, and society. We want to prepare our students for responsible life in a free society. We want our students to understand the need for peace, tolerance, equality, and friendship among all people.

At Spring Valley Science, we provide a challenging, future-oriented education emphasizing science, critical thinking, communication and problem solving skills. All state standards are taught in our rigorous curriculum.

At Commodore Sloat, children learn by doing. Our experienced staff leads children to do more than find the right answers. We learn to pay attention to how we think as well. As a high-performing school, our dedicated staff knows how to support students in reaching higher levels of academic performance. Beyond academics, we design and deliver instruction that teaches students how to discern the difference between right and wrong, how to form evidence-based conclusions, and how to become citizens in a rapidly-changing and complex world.

Sheridan Elementary School is located in the Oceanview Merced Ingleside District. We serve students in preschool as well as Kindergarten through 5th grade. At Sheridan, we meet the needs of each individual child and aim to provide an inclusive and psychologically safe environment where all students excel, regardless of race or economic status. Sheridan school community believes in high expectations and an outcome of success for all students.

Junipero Serra Elementary School is a hidden gem in the heart of the Bernal Heights area. It is a neighborhood public school with a very diverse student population, located opposite the beautiful Bernal Heights public park and near the local library. Our mission is to provide all students with a well-rounded education necessary for success in life. Students are supported as they develop a sense of pride in their cultural heritage and achievements. Our goal is for students to be responsible, self-motivated, life-long learners.

Redding Elementary School serves a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse group of students who come from all over San Francisco. To the Redding School community, social justice and equity mean providing the highest quality education possible to all students so that they have choices and are empowered to make change in our society. We do this by respecting, valuing, and honoring the unique experiences of our students and their families.

At John Muir School (home of the Bobcat Scholars) we consider families to be the first teachers of their children and our motto at John Muir is:  “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work.”
