The deadline has been extended for the 2026 CleanPowerSF Climate and Clean Energy High School Video and Writing Contest, themed “Powering San Francisco’s Future.” Deadline to enter the contest: Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

The San Francisco Human Services Agency has launched its Mobile Benefits Center—a benefits hub on wheels that brings food assistance, cash aid, employment support, and health coverage services directly into neighborhoods. 

Originally posted on April 20: Caltrans will be closing large portions of 19th Avenue on three separate weekends starting Friday, April 24. Closures begin at 7 a.m. on Fridays, which may impact school drop-off and pickup traffic, in addition to weekend travel. Students, families, and staff should expect major delays and detours, and plan for significantly increased travel time, especially for school commutes, activities, and weekend events.

The Japantown Children's Day Festival will be held on Saturday May 2nd from 11am - 4pm at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (1840 Sutter Street, San Francisco)! This free event will feature children's games, arts and crafts, live entertainment, and a bounce house!

Saturday Learn-to-Swim classes run May 9 to May 30 at the Don Fisher Clubhouse, open to both Boys and Girls Club and non-Boys and Girls Club members.
