REGARDING EXCESSIVE DAILY ABSENCES

Re: Student Absences

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian,

Attendance is an essential component to a student’s academic success. Often, the number of days that students are absent accumulate without parents realizing how many days have been missed.

A child is habitually truant if, without an excuse, they are:

• Absent for three days in a single school year.
• Absent or tardy more than 30 minutes three times in a year.
• Any combination of the above. Cal. Ed. Code § 48260(a).

A child is chronically truant (absent) if they have missed 10 percent of the school year. Cal. Ed. Code § 48263.6. and SFUSD Board Policy 5113 

This letter is to inform you that your child has been absent over 10% of the school year to date. MLKs has deemed it necessary to work with you and your child to address their attendance issue. The student will receive a daily progress report which will be signed by their teachers (student must pick a new report every day from Student Support Office) and will consult weekly with our student support services.  Further, student support will contact each parent to keep you updated.

We look forward to working with you to improve your child’s attendance. Please contact us if there is any way that we can assist in this process. Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation.

若孩子無故席席以下情況，則屬於習慣性逃學：

• 在一個學年中缺席三天。
• 一年內缺席或遲到超過 30 分鐘 3 次。
• 上述任意組合。 加州教育法典§48260(a)。

如果孩子缺課了學年 10% 的時間，則視為長期逃學（缺席）。 加州教育法典§48263.6。 和 SFUSD 教育委員會政策 5113

Re: Ausencias de Estudiantes

Estimados Padres/Tutores Legales:

La asistencia es un componente esencial para el éxito académico del estudiante. A menudo, la cantidad de días que los estudiantes faltan se acumulan sin que los padres se den cuenta de cuántos días ausentes acumulados.

Un estudiante está habitualmente ausente sin justificación si:

• Ausencia por tres días en un solo año escolar.
• Ausente o tarde más de 30 minutos tres veces al año.
• Cualquier combinación de las anteriores. California. Ed. Código § 48260(a).

Un estudiante está ausente crónicamente si ha perdido el 10 por ciento del año escolar. California. Ed. Código § 48263.6. y Política 5113 de la Junta Directiva del SFUSD

Esta carta es para informarle que su hijo/a ha estado ausente más del 10% en el corriente año escolar hasta la fecha. MLK ha considerado necesario trabajar con usted y su hijo/a para abordar el  problema de asistencia. El estudiante recibirá un Informe del Progreso Diariamente(El estudiante tendrá que recoger diariamente la forma de Progreso en la oficina de Apoyo Estudiantil) que será firmado por sus profesores, y consultará semanalmente con nuestros Departamento de Apoyo Estudiantil. Además, el Equipo de Apoyo Estudiantil se comunicará con cada padre para mantenerlo actualizado.

Esperamos trabajar con usted para mejorar la asistencia de su hijo/a. Comuníquese con nosotros si hay alguna forma en que podamos ayudarlo en este proceso. Gracias de antemano por su apoyo y cooperación.
