Arts Enrichment

Arts Enrichment

While we use the word enrichment to describe the arts, we understand that when the arts are integrated into education they address learning differences, support engagement and improve learning. Arts are also the way culture is expressed and passed along and our children have an opportunity to be exposed to the rich array of ethnic and cultural groups in the Bay Area.

Some of the offerings for McKinley’s Arts Enrichment program include:

  • Weekly visual arts with a Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) teacher or SFArtsED teacher;

  • 10-week creative movement unit through SFArtsED;

  • Weekly Chorus through SFArtsED;

  • Recorder in the third grade;

  • Optional instrumental music (strings or winds) for fourth and fifth grades;

  • Adventures in Music (AIM) Partnership with the S.F. Symphony; and

  • Field trips to local arts institutions and the symphony.
