Transcripts, Student Records & Work Permits

NOTE: All Transcripts, Diploma copies, Work Permits, Enrollment Records, and Education Verifications MUST be ordered by clicking on the appropriate sections below:

Transcripts - Current SFUSD Students

This section is for students who are attending SFUSD PUBLIC Schools (see list below):

  • For students attending charter / county schools, you MUST contact the school directly in order to get your unofficial or official  transcript or records

The *only times* current SFUSD students need to request a transcript through our office:

  • A college, high school, or other organization has specifically asked you for an OFFICIAL transcript (which means it is signed, sealed, stamped, or delivered electronically directly from our office to the requesting school / organization)
  • During SFUSD Winter, Spring and Summer breaks, when school site staff / counselors are not working
  • All current SFUSD 12th graders attending PUBLIC schools (see list below) will receive an email mid-MAY, with a registration code, to activate their Parchment accounts
    • Final transcripts will be uploaded and stored there in JUNE
    • You will be able to order / deliver / receive / track official final transcripts through your Parchment account

If you are filling out (most) college applications or want to see what courses you’ve completed or are planning on what to take next year:

  • Log in to your StudentVUE or ParentVUE
  • Click on “Course History”
  • Toggle the “Detail” button on the right side to “On”

If you are transferring to another school or applying for a Scholarship or just need your GPA or SSID:

  • Email your counselor for an unofficial transcript

To Request Official Transcripts:

  • Review the sections above FIRST
  • You must email transcripts@sfusd.edu DIRECTLY FROM THE STUDENT'S SFUSD EMAIL ACCOUNT ONLY (for identity purposes)
  • Include student's ID# (if you have it), date of birth, and full name as enrolled
  • Also include the full name and mailing address (street, city, state, zip code) OR email address (must be a school or institution) of where you want the official transcript sent
  • Alternatively, high school students attending the PUBLIC high schools may use Parchment to order and pay for official transcripts and check on the status of those orders. Click on the links below to order.

ORDER High School Transcripts - Former Students / Alumni

  • SFUSD now uses Parchment to process all Transcript requests:
    • Official Electronic Transcripts cost is $8.00 each
    • Official Transcripts sent by mail cost:
      • USPS Domestic: $10.75 each
      • USPS International: $13.25 each
      • FedEx Domestic Overnight: $33.00 each
      • FedEx International: $57.50 each
  • You must select one of the schools from the list below.
    • Select the school you graduated from, or the last school you attended.
    • You will be taken to Parchment’s website and asked to create an account.

WORK PERMITS

11/23/2020 UPDATE - WORK PERMITS ARE NOW PROCESSED ONLINE:

1.  Download the SFUSD Work Permit Application 

2.  Print it out and fill out ALL sections BUT LEAVE THE SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER FIELD **BLANK**

3.  Call   415-750-4500    (x1410 - DO NOT LEAVE MESSAGES at x1020)

  • When you hear the man’s voice, dial 1410
  • Leave a voicemail with your 1) Full Name (spell out last name)  2) Date of birth 3) Social security number
  • Speak slowly and clearly, SPELL OUT YOUR LAST AND REPEAT EVERYTHING TWICE

4. Attach the Application to your email and send to transcripts@sfusd.edu  

  • For identity purposes, you MUST use your SFUSD or Charter School email address
  • Do NOT share a Google Drive link with us for it (we can’t open them)
  • Charter School Students: attach your latest Report Card
  • No other documents are needed
  • 2.0 GPA Requirement - see below

5.  We will email you back the completed Work Permit in 1-3 business days (with instructions for you to complete it)

IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING WORK PERMITS:

  • UPDATED RENEWAL PROCESS: if you are still working for the same employer at the time the work permit expires, you must submit a NEW application (you can no longer use a copy of your old work permit)
  • We do not process Work Permits for any PRIVATE SCHOOLS or HOME-SCHOOLED students 
  • Students must renew their work permit with a separate application at the beginning of each school year
  • Students must also have a separate work permit for each distinct job
  • The following students do NOT need work permits:
    • Those who have graduated from high school, regardless of age
    • Those who have passed the California High School Proficiency Exam
    • Those who are 18 year of age or older

ORDER Diplomas

BY LATE NOVEMBER, SFUSD WILL HAVE A NEW, FASTER, EASIER DIPLOMA ORDERING SYSTEM!

  • You will be able to pay online and receive a certified diploma copy in as little as 1-3 business days! Or an embossed ceremonial copy in 6-12 weeks
  • We encourage you to please wait until we have this new system, available shortly
  • Otherwise, you may order below and mail in payment, and receive your diploma in 6-12 weeks

Please note that your SFUSD High School Transcript is THE official document to show proof of graduation, not your diploma.

FOLLOW THESE 4 STEPS TO ORDER:

  1. Mail in payment of $20.00 (cash, check or money order) to: SFUSD Transcript Office - 20 Cook St. Room 11 - San Francisco, CA 94118
  2. Complete this form
  3. Email transcripts@sfusd.edu with a picture of your photo ID attached to the email (please clarify in the email it is for a diploma you are ordering)
  4. Once payment is received, diplomas will take up to 12 weeks for you to receive in the mail

ORDER Enrollment Records

  • We can usually write an “Affidavit Letter” that states which schools you attended while in SFUSD, the years you attended, and the addresses you lived at.
    • Some records prior to 2014 do not have specific middle or elementary schools listed, or your addresses
    • Most records prior to 1990 do not have specific elementary schools or addresses listed
  • SFUSD now uses Parchment to process all Enrollment Records requests.
    • Electronic Records cost $8.00 each.
    • Official Records sent by mail cost:

    • 1999-2004 - Washington High School

School Transfer Records Requests

  • If your student is transferring schools, please contact their school site, during the regular school year, to request records.
  • During the Summer, you may email us for partial records (transcript / report card, enrollment and immunization records only). Email transcripts@sfusd.edu with: 1. picture of your photo ID attached to the email 2. your students’ names as enrolled 3. their dates of birth. We will email these records back to you, for you to forward to the new schools.
  • If your student is enrolled in Special Education services, please see the “Special Education Records” section of this web page.
  • If your student is in a Charter / County School, we do not hold their records. Please see the “Charter Schools” section of this web page.

ORDER Education Verifications or Transcripts (for 3rd Parties ONLY)

  • SFUSD now uses Parchment to process all Graduation / Education Verification requests.
  • Universities and colleges, or other 3rd parties, may request transcripts using the same links below; HOWEVER, for reduced cost, we recommend that the student or candidate order them directly using the “ORDER High School Transcripts - Former Students / Alumni” section above.
  • The cost is $15.00 per request.
  • You must upload the candidate’s signed Release of Records into Parchment.
    • We accept Electronic Signatures.
  • Select the school the candidate graduated from, or the last school they attended

  • The District only holds Special Education Records until a former student turns 25.

  • Due to the “Shelter in Place” orders from the City and County of San Francisco, the Transcripts, Records and Work Permits Office location at 20 Cook Street is CLOSED FOR DROP-IN TRANSACTIONS until further notice.
  • Transcripts and records MUST be ordered / processed by clicking on the appropriate section of this web page.
