Bond Program Overview Link to this section

San Francisco kids deserve great schools, and everyone plays an important role in supporting our city’s children. Bond measures are a cornerstone of SFUSD's facility construction program. Thanks to San Francisco voters, SFUSD has been able to create safer, brighter, and more sustainable school buildings and learning environments for our students to flourish.

Construction at Daniel Webster Elementary School

San Francisco voters have approved five school bond measures in 2003, 2006, 2011, 2016 and most recently in 2024. This support has authorized SFUSD to issue nearly $2.8 billion in bonds over several decades, managed by the Bond Program. The program invests in school facility upgrades, including: replacing aging portables with new classroom buildings; making seismic and structural upgrades; improving accessibility for disabled students; modernizing classroom interiors and learning spaces; upgrading security systems and technology infrastructure; refreshing kitchens and cafeterias; and implementing schoolyard greening and outdoor learning programs.

The most recent 2024 Bond approved $790 million towards many important and exciting projects.
