2) identify students who are not showing adequate progress toward fluency, and

Site Leaders will engage with the AAALI team to deepen their understanding and skills in two key areas: 

1) Building and Sustaining Partnerships with Black Families: Learn how to establish and maintain effective partnerships through site-based African American Parent Advisory Councils (AAPACs). 

2) Creating Safe and Affirming Learning Spaces for Black Students: Explore strategies for fostering supportive environments via Mastering Cultural Identity courses, focusing on pedagogy, purpose, and shared expectations.

  
5Expanded Learning: ExCEL After School & Summer ProgramsAbbie Ridenour & Karina Henriquez, Student & Family Services DivisionHighly recommended for new site leaders, though all are welcome to join us to learn more about funding and leadership practices to ensure high quality after school and summer programs. The session is primarily focused on TK-8th grade school sites, as the requirements for Expanded Learning programs have been updated over the past two years. Topics will include: role of SFUSD's ExCEL office/ site leadership, RFQ process for CBO lead agencies happening this year, as well as Q&A to understand your site's after school & summer grants

7How Central Office Staff supports school sites during an Emergency: Virtual Emergency Operations Center, Joint Information Centers and Crisis Communications.Greg Markwith Laura Dudnick, Wilson Chu, Facilities & Operations DivisionEmergency Operations Centers (E.O.C.s) & Joint Information Centers (J.I.C.s) are used to organize Central Office resources in response to and in support of, an incident at district sites. The E.O.C. is set up virtually using g-chat and adheres to specific protocols at the direction of an E.O.C. Director, who is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate resources are deployed to sites as quickly, and effectively as possible. 
 
  
8Engaging Multilingual Families for Student Success through Functioning ELACJantsan Damdinsuren, Multilingual Pathways Department (C&I)In this session, site leaders will get an overview of English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) requirements and learn effective strategies and best practices from other sites for running their ELACs and engaging multilingual families. Additionally, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to use the ELAC toolkit and other resources to evaluate and strengthen their activities.

Resources shared will support school leaders in SSC and SPSA development, Title I family engagement activities, and planning supplemental Title I expenses.

Each and Every By Name: Sustaining Success for our Black and Pacific Islander Kindergarten Students

African American Achievement and Leadership Initiative

In our ongoing effort to achieve interim goals for Kindergarten Literacy, 6th Grade Math, and 9th Grade College and Career Readiness, we are adopting a case management approach to serve the whole child. This workshop will provide site leaders with an overview of the Each and Every By Name Initiative, focusing on African American and Pacific Islander Kindergarten Literacy. Participants will gain insights into the roles of administrators and classroom teachers, as well as the supports offered by the Central Office. Additionally, we will take time to celebrate the successes from the 2023-2024 school year.
