Note: transfer results are final (no option to accept/decline).

Enrollment Key Dates for 27-28

There is only one deadline: Main Round Applications are due February 1, 2027. 

All families who do not get their first choice school will be automatically added to the wait lists of up to 3 schools on their application. Families applying for the first time after February 1 will be added to wait lists for schools of their choice and assigned to a school with space. More details can be found at sfusd.edu/waitlist.

December 11, 2026Deadline to apply for Ruth Asawa School of the Arts and Lowell High School (SOTA applicants, make sure to go to your audition in January!)
February 1, 2027

Main Round Deadline. Last day to submit, revise or cancel TK -12 applications.

Interdistrict transfer applications due, interdistrict permits due 4/30/27.

February 2, 2027

Wait List Application Opens

Families applying for the first time after this date can join the end of the Wait List for schools they are interested in. These families will need to do Open Enrollment between April and August to get a school assignment. 

Families who already applied for the Main Round, but who did not get their top choice, will be automatically added to the Wait Lists of schools above their assigned school on their list, and do not need to resubmit the Wait List application unless they want to change the ranking of schools on their Wait List.

Week of March 15, 2027

Main Round assignment letters mailed to families who applied by 2/1.

Inter-district transfer applicants are assigned and notified.

Waitlist  status is live on ParentVue.

March 25, 2027

Last day to accept or decline the Main Round assignment.

Last day to submit a Family and/or Medical Hardship Appeal.

March 26 - April 2, 2027

Spring Break (schools closed)

April 19, 2027

First Wait List assignments sent this week, then on rolling basis as space is available.

Appeals decisions sent to families and included in wait lists.

April 26, 2027Open Enrollment for 2027-28 begins.
May 10, 2027

Lowell 10th-12th grade transfer window opens
