11:00 a.m.: The SFUSD team presented a counter offer and received UESF’s counter offer at 2:30 pm. Negotiations are ongoing. Third day of strike. All SFUSD schools were closed to students due to the strike.

9:00 a.m.-10:30 p.m.: Bargaining between UESF and SFUSD started at 9:00 a.m. SFUSD presented a packaged counter proposal to UESF at 12:00 p.m. The district team was invited back at 8:30 p.m. to receive the UESF counterproposal. The district asked to return to provide a counter at 10:30 p.m., and UESF rejected that request.
Second day of strike. All SFUSD schools were closed to students due to the strike.

3:15-9:30 p.m.: UESF met at 11:00 a.m. to prepare, and negotiations resumed at 3:15 p.m. SFUSD was available and waiting for the invitation to meet from 7:00 a.m. on.
First day of strike. All SFUSD schools were closed to students due to the strike.

Mayor Lurie and Speaker Emerita Pelosi, supported by many others, requested both sides to commit a three-day cooling off period in which the strike would be delayed for continued negotiations. SFUSD agreed. UESF did not. SFUSD offered to meet Sunday. UESF refused.
Saturday, Feb. 7 Link to this section
2:00-9:45 p.m.: Negotiations resumed. UESF provided a counter-proposal at the session, and SFUSD offered a comprehensive package as a response. SFUSD and UESF came to a tentative agreement on sanctuary policy. UESF ended negotiations Saturday at 9:45 p.m. UESF agreed to return to the bargaining table at noon on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026.

5:00-9:30 p.m.: Negotiations resumed. SFUSD brought a written proposal, as requested by the union. UESF rejected SFUSD’s offer and declined to provide a counter proposal. SFUSD proposed meeting Friday, Feb. 6 at 9:00 a.m. UESF declined. They offered to meet with SFUSD’s bargaining team next at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7 but stated that they would not be bringing a counter proposal.
7:01 a.m.: SFUSD received notice from UESF about their intent to strike on Monday, Feb. 9.

12:51 p.m.: Fact-finding report released. SFUSD invited the union back to the table as soon as possible. UESF agreed to meet on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 5:00 p.m.

9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.: During the fact-finding meeting with a neutral third party, SFUSD offered to present its latest proposal to UESF. The union refused to consider it.
