Per California Education Code Section 53008 all students in grades K–2 are screened each year for risk of reading difficulties. In SFUSD, Grade 1 & 2 students are screened for reading difficulties using Amira. Amira Screening for newly enrolled grade 1 & 2 students must be completed by November 21, in order to comply with the state requirement that students are screened within the first 45 days of school.
