Enrollment Center Community Engagement Link to this section
The Enrollment Center is always looking for ways to improve our processes and policies to ensure that SFUSD Enrollment is as fair, equitable, simplified and effective as possible. As we explore new possible changes, it is our general practice to share with the community what we are considering before final decisions are made and engage in meaningful consultation with the communities that will be impacted. The following are some examples of changes to our Enrollment policies or processes that we have engaged the community about in the past and some that changes that are still upcoming:
- TK Feeder Proposal (2025)
- Elementary Student Assignment Policy changes (2018-Present)
- TK as Elementary School (2022-23)
- Enrollment Process Simplification (2023-24)
How do we do Community Engagement

Different types of engagement
Community engagement can take the form of one or more of the following:
- In-person or virtual community engagement sessions
- Tabling and in-person surveying at community events
- Focus Groups
- Asynchronous engagement via posting resources online and asking community members to complete a survey

Different types of Community Engagement
- Community members who are invited to participate in a community engagement process could include students, families, staff, community based organizations, elected officials and the community at large
- Each policy decision would incorporate a different population of community members, depending on who might be most directly affected by this decision
- We will make every effort to ensure the participation of a demographically representative group of directly affected stakeholders

Language Access
We will ensure that the community engagement process is accessible by offering translation and interpretation, different methodologies for engagement. When possible we will also offer childcare and food for in-person sessions to help reduce barriers for participation
