Open Enrollment

What is Open Enrollment?

Any family who needs a school for 2022-2023 can participate in Open Enrollment. This includes families who are seeking a new or different school assignment, regardless of whether they have participated in previous application rounds this year, and regardless of whether the student currently has a school assignment for the 2022-23 school year.

The Open Enrollment period starts on July 18 and goes through September 2, 2022.

How does Open Enrollment work?

Open Enrollment works on a first-come, first-served basis for immediate assignment to a school that has openings and no Wait Pool requests. Families who wish to participate can call or visit the EPC office at 555 Franklin Street, Room 100. Our telephone number is (415) 241-6085 and our open hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

An EPC counselor will be able to tell you which schools are available for your child, and will work with you to enroll your child in a school.

If you have not applied during the previous rounds (Main Round, Round 2, Wait Pool), complete the SFUSD online application or the paper TK-13 General Application and include all required documents

If you enroll your child in a school using the Open Enrollment process, you forfeit any previous school assignment for the 2022-23 school year. Enrolling in a school for the first time, or changing your student’s enrollment, during Open Enrollment will not impact existing Wait Pool applications.
