New resource: Main Round applicant success rates

The Enrollment Center regularly receives requests from prospective parents as they try to understand their chances of getting assigned to their preferred schools.

  • The annual assignment highlights below are a good starting point, which show that 92% of students get assigned to one of their choices, on average.

  • Now, families can also consult this new public resource which shows assignment outcomes for each specific school, grade, program combination. The spreadsheet shows an average over the previous three years. Please review the INTRO tab and Sample Data Explained tab to guide your use of this tool.

  • Main Round 2026 Enrollment Cycle Highlights - summarizes the number of applicants and choice outcomes compared to 2025-26.
  • Main Round 2026 Choice Results by Rank - shows the number of requests by choice rank for each grade.
  • Main Round 2026 Program Requests by School, Grade, Program - shows the number of requests by choice rank for each school, grade, and program.
  • Main Round 2026 Transitional Grade Requests per Seat - Shows the number of requests per available seat for each school, grade, and program (TK, K, 6 and 9 only).
  • Current and Historical Waitlist Results - count of waitlisted students and offers for each school, grade, and program, for the current application cycle, SY 2026-27, and average count of waitlisted students and offers for each school, grade, and program for SY 2025-26, the first year of the new automatic waitlist process, when each main round applicant was automatically placed on up to 5 waitlists. This document is intended to be a resource to help project how many waitlist offers might be given this year, but because the waitlist limit has been reduced to 3 for the 2026-27 school year, the overall number of waitlist requests should decrease compared to last year.
