AME Digital Media 1 (10th Grade Course)

COURSE OVERVIEW

This is the introductory course to Lincoln’s 3-year Digital Media Design (DMD) Academy Program, which is part of SFUSD’s Career Technical Education (CTE) Program and is a California Arts, Media, & Entertainment (AME) Industry Sector course. An introduction to computer use, operating systems, video production and graphic design will be covered. Students who are part of an academy at Abraham Lincoln are required to maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0 to remain and participate in the academy.

 

Course Topics Covered:

  • Effectively using Internet search methods and evaluating sources of information 

  • Effective email (Gmail) use for the school and work setting

  • Learning to use free on-line office/productivity products (i.e.: Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, and Google Forms)

  • Learning to the intermediate level Adobe Photoshop: understanding the user interface, tools and panels, manipulating/editing digital images, creating collages, and using Photoshop for graphic design projects

  • Exploring skills, interests, and work importance for various careers related to the technology/multimedia fields

  • Introduction to video production & editing

  • Learn the Principles of Art

  • Project based hands-on learning

  • Make friends in a small learning community

  • Learn how to use the Apple OS X effectively with proper digital file handling

  • Have guest speakers about various design, multi-media, & tech related careers throughout the year

  • Participate in 10th Grade spring field trip
