Miraloma is the first SFUSD elementary school to begin shifting to all gender-neutral bathrooms schoolwide. The kindergarten bathrooms are already gender neutral, and this year the school will expand to the first grade class, with a plan for all students in all grades to eventually use gender-neutral bathrooms. The school community has been supportive of the process, and the principal reports that families with students who identify with non-traditional areas of the gender spectrum especially appreciate the shift. Though the State of California passed a law a few years ago requiring schools to allow transgender youth to use whatever bathroom they wish, SFUSD had policies and procedures on this issue in place prior to the recent state law.

Call for details.
