For distance learning in the fall, SFUSD is preparing to loan Chromebook devices and Internet access for students in grades PK-12 who need technology to engage in distance learning.

SFUSD educators have compiled resources to help youth consider perspectives different than their own, and for families and educators on using the COVID pandemic to teach kids about compassion.

After reviewing the best available evidence-based sources of guidance from health officials, and gathering input from staff, students, and families, SFUSD has determined that on August 17, 2020, our fall semester will begin with distance learning.

The week of July 6th, we hosted a series of Town Halls for the SFUSD community to receive updates and provide input on fall learning. The Town Halls are available to watch online anytime.

The interim guidance outlines the health and safety practices needed to safely resume in-person, on-site instruction and extracurricular activities at TK-12 schools.

SFUSD families are invited to take a brief, anonymous survey to provide input on fall learning. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Tagalog, Arabic, Vietnamese, and Samoan.

On April 17th, a new health order was released requiring people to wear face coverings while in essential businesses, healthcare settings, or on public transportation in San Francisco.

Beginning Monday, April 27, grab & go meals will be limited to a maximum of 4 bags per person in order to serve as many children as possible.

SFUSD is working with the City and County of San Francisco, community-based organizations, and local philanthropists to expand Internet access for students in grades 3-12 who need WiFi to engage in SFUSD’s Distance Learning Plan.

In order to continue to provide your child with meaningful learning experiences during temporary school closures, SFUSD is implementing a continuity of learning plan districtwide, which may include online meetings.

SFUSD is asking staff to work from home to the extent possible while the social distancing directives are in place from public health officials. At this time, we know this will last at least until the end of May.

Seven students from Glen Park have reported respiratory illness. Based on the recommendation of the Department of Public Health, SFUSD is closing Glen Park immediately while public health officials investigate. There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Glen Park.
