New SFUSD Superintendent Launches Listening Tour at Schools

Findings Will be Shared With SF Board of Education, Community

Press Release

San Francisco (Sept. 7, 2022) - After taking the helm of the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) in July 2022, Superintendent Dr. Matt Wayne will engage in a listening tour to meet the SFUSD community; listen to their experiences, needs, feedback, input and questions; and understand SFUSD’s strengths and needs.

As part of his 117-day plan, Superintendent Wayne will visit schools to listen and learn from school communities to understand what needs are in the district. The 117-day plan coincides with the San Francisco Board of Education’s commitment to a process to update their vision, values, and goals by October 25. After that date, Superintendent Wayne will share his findings in a written report in November and plan next steps.

“It has been so encouraging to engage with people in San Francisco who really care for our students and our district, and want to see us succeed,” said Superintendent Wayne. “I want us to use that energy to achieve our goals as a community. We need to think about how we’ll bring people together.”

Multilingual town halls for the Superintendent’s listening tour will take place on the following dates and locations. All events will take place from 5:30 to 7:30PM.
