Required Language of Assessment for Spanish Language Pathways

Reminder: District reports reflect SFUSD's 2025-26 District Interim Assessment Plan, and students in non-Spanish Pathway classes are assessed in English as indicated in SFUSD's Assessment Timeline. 

NOTES: 

• Star Math is now assessed in English for all students in grades 1-HS, the language of assessment is based on guidance from the Multilingual Program Department in C&I.
• Teachers may opt to administer Star assessments in Spanish or English in addition to the language of assessment required above.
• Grade K-10 Students in the country less than 1 year from one week before the required administration window are not required to take the Star Reading (Star Early Literacy for Gr K) assessments regardless of language pathway. Determine students who fall within this group via the following DnA (Illuminate) reports:
  • Gr K-8 EL Exempt DnA Report                        Gr 9-10 EL Exempt DnA Report
• Students in the country less than 1 year may take the Star Reading assessments, and results will be included in reports.
