Introduction

Math Milestone Tasks (K-5 and High School) or Entry Tasks (for grades 6-8) are embedded assessments within the SFUSD Math Core Curriculum. Teachers already administer and score these assessments as part of math instruction. Scores are reported twice a year, once in Fall and once in Spring. Assessments can be administered in person or remotely.
NOTE: For Grades 6-8 the Entry Task serves as the District Math Assessment. It should be administered prior to or at the beginning of the assigned unit. Entry Tasks should NOT be administered after a unit has been completely taught. Entry Tasks measure the understanding a student brings to the current unit of study. They are not intended as a measure of the learning within the unit.

Option to order print copies.
If you plan to assess students using paper copies, order the copies for your class at least TWO weeks prior to your scheduled administration date using the Math Milestone/Entry Paper Student Pages Request form. Copies will be sent to your school site via School Mail as soon as possible after the requesting date.
The transition to Distance Learning gave us the opportunity to explore alternate methods of task administration from the traditional paper and pencil. Many teachers found that digital administration was easier and/or gave them more information about student thinking.
In order to preserve teacher opportunity to use the administration that best suits their needs, paper copies of the Math Milestone/Entry Tasks will NOT be provided. However, in recognition of the burden of teacher-made copies, AAO will provide paper Math Milestone/Entry Task student pages upon request.
