Book Club

The Balboa Book Club is currently reading Refugee by Alan Gratz.

Refugee is about 3 different young people: Josef is in Nazi Germany, Isabel is in 1994 Cuba, and Mahmoud is in 2015 Syria. Based on true stories, this action novel details the dangers of the refugee journey from bombings to betrayals and although the teens are separated by continents and decades, shocking connections will tie their stories together in the end.
