Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!

Dear Buccaneer Students and Parents/Guardians:

Welcome back to another school year, which we know will be productive and exciting. I am honored and excited to continue to serve as your principal. I am especially excited that our administrative team has remained intact for three consecutive years. Dr. Arenson, Ms. DeGele and Mr. Nepomuceno are all looking forward to working with the faculty, staff, students, and parents to support every Balboa High School Student in reaching their academic goals and setting the groundwork for a bright future after high school.

The first day of school is Monday, August, 19, 2019. Classes begin promptly at 8:15 AM. Please bring something to write with and to write on as it is a full instructional day of bell-to-bell teaching and learning. Homeroom will be your first class on the 19th. When you arrive on campus in the morning you will find student lists posted by grade level. You can determine the room number of your homeroom by finding your name on the appropriate list. Members of the senior class and the Balboa Alumni Association will be on hand to offer help.

With the ongoing collaboration of our Parent Teacher student Association, the Balboa Alumni Association, the Balboa After School Program, various community support groups and the SFUSD district office, we will continue to offer students a wide range of opportunities enabling them to become knowledgeable, mature and productive citizens. It is especially vital that you, as parents and guardians, become involved with your child's education by becoming a member of the PTSA, the School Site Council and/or participating in school sponsored activities.

Resuming every Thursday will be the Balboa FRESH Pantry, an opportunity for families to receive free groceries. Please inquire with our after school program about how you can begin to utilize this resource provided through our partnership with the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank.

On behalf of the staff and the student body, I extend our best wishes for a successful school year.

Freedom Siyam, Principal
