The Transcript/Work Permit Office is open to the public Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm and is located at 20 Cook St., Room 11, San Francisco, CA 94118. Masks are strongly recommended.
The Transcript/Work Permit Office will be closed on Monday, July 3, 2023.
Please note that all document requests need to be requested and fulfilled via our online systems. Computers will be available in the transcript office to make requests as needed.

1. ORDER DACA Records
The DACA program was suspended on July 2021, as a result, we are not currently providing any documents for DACA. If you need a transcript, please follow the transcript instructions found in #3, ORDER High School Transcripts - Former Students / Alumni.
To Be Eligible to Order DACA Records, you must meet ALL of these requirements:
- Born after June 15, 1981
- Born outside of the United States and came to the U.S. before 16th birthday
- Continuously resided in the United States since June 15, 2007
- Physically present in the U.S. on June 15, 2012, and at the time of applying
- Currently undocumented (as of June 15, 2012)
- Currently in school, have graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, have obtained a general education development (GED) certificate, or are an honorably discharged veteran of the Coast Guard or Armed Forces of the United States
- Have not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor, three or more other misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety
If you meet all of these requirements above:

- Attach any ONE of the following photo ID types for the student you are requesting records (school ID, passport, CA ID are all acceptable)
- Include the student's full name and
- date of birth in the email
- Please state in the email that this is a DACA request
2. Transcripts - Current SFUSD Students
This section is for students who are attending SFUSD PUBLIC Schools (see list below):
- For students attending charter / county schools, you MUST contact the school directly in order to get your unofficial or official transcript or records
Unofficial Transcripts:
- Students can view their latest Unofficial Transcript in the "Documents" tab of their StudentVUE
- Parents can also view their students' Unofficial Transcript in the "Documents" tab of their ParentVUE (select the student you want to see first)
- Questions regarding transcripts, and accessing unofficial ones, should be directed to your student's school counselor during the school year.
Official Transcripts:
- School sites should process official transcript requests during the school year. Please connect with your school counselor or counseling registrar.
- The Transcripts Office will send senior final transcripts to the college/university of choice in June after the students graduate.
Alternatively if a high school student attending a public high school wants to request a transcript to be sent electronically during the school year, they may use Parchment to order and pay for official transcripts and receive notifications on the status of those orders. 4. WORK PERMITS
UPDATES:
New Work Permits Process (Effective from June 1st, 2023):
Please note we ACCEPT the PAPER WORK PERMIT APPLICATION starting from June 1st, 2023, we no longer use the online system.
Requesting a Work permit is 4 step process:
- Student fills out a work permit application (CDE Form B1-1), Minor’s/School Information. The student needs to print out (CDE Form B1-1).
- Parent/Legal Guardian fills out and signs the Parent/Guardian section.
- Employer fills out and signs the Employer section.
- The student then brings a COMPLETED work permit application to the district Transcript/Work Permit Office (20 Cook St. 1st floor Rm. 11) to apply for a student work permit. Please leave the bottom section "For authorized work permit issuer use ONLY" blank. The student has to be physically present to turn in the application.
Please note we DO NOT accept digital signatures, the application has to be physically signed ("wet" signature) by Student, Parent/Guardian, and Employer.
SFUSD Student Needs to Bring:
- Completed application with signatures
- Proof of Age - California ID, Driver’s License, Passport, or Birth Certificate
- Proof of Enrollment - Spring 2023 Report Card or Spring Progress Report card
Non-SFUSD Student (Charter, Private, Boarding School, Online/Virtual, Out of District) Needs to Bring:
Please note we ONLY support Non-SFUSD Students in Summer when the school of attendance is closed

IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING WORK PERMITS:
- UPDATED RENEWAL PROCESS: if you are still working for the same employer at the time the work permit expires, you must submit a NEW application (you can no longer use a copy of your old work permit)
- CA Minor Work Hours
- Students must renew their work permit with a separate application at the beginning of each school year
- Students must also have a separate work permit for each distinct job
- The following students do NOT need work permits:
- Those who have graduated from high school, regardless of age
- Those who have passed the California High School Proficiency Exam
- Those who are 18 years of age or older

5. ORDER High School Diploma Copy
SFUSD considers your transcript (not your diploma) to be THE official proof of graduation
- Diplomas are typically for personal / display use
- SFUSD offers two types of diploma copies that you can order
- Choose one or both once you are taken to the Parchment website through the school links below
1. Official Certified Diploma Copy
- Electronic - $15
- Mail - additional $2.75
- Receive in 1-3 days electronically (plus additional mailing time if paper copy ordered)
- This is a “plain” copy of your diploma
2. Ceremonial Diploma
- Mail delivery only - $25
- Diploma will arrive in the mail directly from Jostens in 6-12 weeks
- This is a “fancy” color copy on heavy paper with a gold seal, like the one you received when you graduated

We can usually provide documentation that shows which schools you attended while in SFUSD, the years you attended, and the address(es) you lived at.
- Some records prior to 2014 do not have specific middle or elementary schools listed or your addresses
- Most records prior to 1990 do not have specific elementary schools or addresses listed

- Universities and colleges, or other 3rd parties, may request transcripts using the same links below; HOWEVER, for reduced cost, we recommend that the student or candidate order them directly using the “ORDER High School Transcripts - Former Students / Alumni” section above.
- The cost is $25.00 per request.
- You must upload the candidate’s signed Release of Records into Parchment.
