SFUSD second to fifth grade students from four elementary schools (Bryant, Leonard Flynn, Daniel Webster and Marshall) will receive 100 donated bicycles, helmets and locks from the Rotary Club of San Francisco, the second-oldest Rotary Club in the world. The donation marks the club's 10th annual Bike Build event.

Six San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) schools have been named California Distinguished Schools: John Y. Chin Elementary, Lawton K-8, Claire Lilienthal K-8, Peabody Elementary, Sloat Elementary and Ulloa Elementary.

The San Francisco Board of Education on Tuesday approved the $73.7 million Public Education Enrichment Fund (PEEF) Expenditure Plan Proposal, which allocates voter-approved funds for sports, libraries, arts, music and other programs in the city's public schools.

Ulloa Elementary School will host a community celebration in honor of receiving the prestigious National Title I Distinguished School recognition. The celebration will consist of students singing and dancing, and special remarks from city and school leaders.

In light of yesterday’s incident at James Lick Middle School, in which 10 students became ill after consuming cannabis, the San Francisco Unified School District is sharing more information about reported marijuana use among students and its approach to educating students about the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

As a diversity driven district, the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is recruiting for the second year of Pathway for Teaching  program, focusing on training Bilingual Spanish and Special Education teachers for the city’s highest-need schools and subject areas.

The San Francisco Board of Education elected its leaders for the 2018 year on Tuesday night. Commissioner Hydra Mendoza-McDonnell is now president of the Board of Education and Commissioner Stevon Cook is vice president.

“We are all saddened by the untimely death of Mayor Edwin Lee. Mayor Lee was a true champion for San Franciscans, we personally worked together in fighting for affordable housing, combating unemployment, working to eliminate violence in communities, tackling homelessness, and supporting our schools,” said SF Board of Education President Shamann Walton. 

Ulloa Elementary School is one of up to 100 schools across the country recently chosen as a National Title I Distinguished School. Ulloa received the national recognition for its exceptional student performance.

San Francisco Unified School District received a School Leadership Award in recognition of its efforts to utilize policies and plans that result in larger scale advancement of zero net energy (ZNE) buildings.
