The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is preparing for the return of extracurricular athletics for high school student athletes to practice and compete this spring, beginning April 12, 2021.
The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) has released an updated Return Safely Together Plan which contains additional details regarding how the District will offer in-person learning options at a select number of schools for the District’s youngest students (those in Phase 2A) starting on April 12, 2021, and in-person options for additional students before the end of April.
SF Board of Education President Gabriela Lopez and San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) Superintendent Dr. Vincent Matthews are calling on the City and County of San Francisco to improve access to COVID-19 vaccines for educators. Vaccines are a major tool to defeat the pandemic and a way to help ensure educators are safe once in-person learning resumes.
In response to requests for support from school staff on behalf of families, especially those who cannot access government aid, the SFUSD and the SF Ed Fund are launching the COVID-19 Relief Fund For SFUSD Families with a goal of raising $250,000 to support 1,000 SFUSD families.
The Board also discussed updates to SFUSD’s plans for in-person learning including testing and vaccinations, the instructional program, and a new assessment center.
