Balboa High School Modernization

Balboa High School was selected for a comprehensive modernization, funded by the 2024 Bond. The school was selected based on Facilities Condition Assessment data and campus needs. A comprehensive modernization includes updates to safety and accessibility, creating a high-performance building envelope and climate-friendly features, modern learning environments and classrooms, athletic facility life-cycle replacement, and improvements to kitchens and dining spaces. 

The project kicked off in spring 2026, starting with Project Assessment to gather information about campus needs and facilities conditions. It also included outreach to staff, students, families, and alumni to gather input. The design team is creating a campus plan for the renovation of such a large, multi-faceted, and historical site, and will create a project schedule based off of this plan. More information will be shared on this page in the coming months.
