Families are their children's first teachers. Pre-K may be the first time they are partnering with someone outside the home to support their child's learning and development. The transition to Pre-K is an important milestone, and educators play a vital role in supporting families through this process. A positive transition experience can shape the relationships families build with teachers throughout their child’s elementary school journey. In many ways, you are one of the first representatives of the public school system for families.
Collaborate with families, and the greater community in support of student achievement based on authentic relationships, mutual respect, and shared responsibilities.
Establish ongoing and reciprocal communication with families to promote student growth.
Engage caregivers to inform your curriculum, instruction, and relationship building with students.
