The field was built by America SCORES Bay Area, a program that partners with urban schools to provide a high-quality, team-based soccer program that also integrates poetry and service learning. Funding to build the new field was provided by Major League Soccer and Wells Fargo.

The fair is one of many events aimed at supporting and retaining San Francisco’s African American residents. MBSK/SF is a partnership between SFUSD’s African American Achievement and Leadership Initiative, the Office of the Mayor, the San Francisco Foundation, and several community-based organizations including the San Francisco Alliance of Black School Educators, the Bayview Association for Youth, and Mo’MAGIC.
