Running for office & looking for jobs: Highlights for March 14-20, 2017
Future leaders are gathering to be inspired, entertained, and most importantly, to hear election stump speeches for Student Advisory Council (SAC) spots next year. The SAC Leadership Summit is a day of entertainment, inspiring speakers and workshops. The SAC is a citywide, youth-led organization that provides SFUSD students with opportunities to advise the administrative and policy-making bodies of SFUSD. Two SAC Student Delegates sit on the Board of Education.
When: Friday, March 17 / 12:30 -1:30 p.m (campaign speeches)
Where: Fort Mason Center / Buchanan & Mason Streets
Students will be dressing for success and hitting the interview circuit at the annual Mayor's Youth Jobs+ Resource Fair. This event, created just for youths age 16-24, will help them not only meet prospective employers but also provide resources for sprucing up their resumes and interview skills, and guidance on navigating the job search. Mayor’s Youth Jobs + is a citywide program to help young adults and provide thousands of jobs. The initiative is a partnership between the City of San Francisco; United Way Bay Area; the Department of Children, Youth & Their Families; the Office of Economic and Workforce Development; SFUSD; youth-serving nonprofits; and the San Francisco business community.
When: Saturday, March 18 / 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
