SFUSD Launches New Public Data Dashboard
San Francisco (March 9, 2021) - The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) has launched a new official data dashboard built for the public.
The interactive Tableau dashboard is built and maintained by the district’s Research, Planning, and Assessment (RPA) department and is intended to reflect more specific racial/ethnic, national origin, language and gender information collected from students, families, and staff so that SFUSD can monitor and improve services for its diverse communities.
The public dashboard contains data on measures of academic achievement; behavior; culture climate/social emotional learning; and enrollment by district, division, school, grade level that includes the disaggregation by race/ethnicity, and gender for student groups (including those who are English Learners, socio-economically disadvantaged, Foster Youth, experiencing homelessness, residing in public housing, or receiving Special Education services).
The project was initiated by SF Board of Education resolution, "SFUSD Data Access, Inclusion, and Partnership to Enhance Student Success," authored by SF Board of Education Commissioners Faauuga Moliga and Jenny Lam and Vice President Alison M. Collins.
“Representation matters! Collecting data about the diversity of our district community can help schools and communities plan appropriate programs, decide which evidence-based interventions to select, use limited resources where they are needed most, and see important trends in behavior and achievement,” said Vice President Collins.
“At SFUSD, we strongly believe equity is the work of eliminating oppression, ending biases and ensuring high outcomes for all participants through the creation of multicultural, multilingual, multiethnic, and multiracial practices and conditions,” said Commissioner Moliga.
Students, families, staff, and the general public are encouraged to view and utilize the data. The dashboard can be accessed directly here and from the Data for Accountability and Analysis page on the RPA department’s website.
