San Francisco (March 19, 2026) - The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) announced it has reached a tentative agreement with Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 1021 for a Collective Bargaining Agreement from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2028.
The tentative agreement includes a competitive compensation package providing a total 10.5% salary increase over three years. This includes a 4.5% increase retroactive to July 1, 2025, followed by a 4% increase effective July 1, 2026, and an additional 2% increase effective July 1, 2027. In their previous bargaining agreement, SEIU members received a salary increase of 16% over three years.
“We’re proud to have reached a tentative agreement with our labor partners that reflects both collaboration and a shared commitment to our school communities,” said SFUSD Superintendent Dr. Maria Su. “Our service workers play a vital role in supporting students every day, and this agreement recognizes their contributions while ensuring we continue to move forward together in a sustainable and thoughtful way.”
SEIU represents approximately 1,060 district employees, including school secretaries, custodians, food service workers, warehouse workers, and more. Upon ratification by SEIU membership, the tentative agreement will be finalized upon a vote by the San Francisco Board of Education at an upcoming meeting.
