Like all California public school districts, SFUSD receives funds from the state through the Local Control Funding Formula, which gives the district a base amount per student and adds supplemental funding for students who come from low-income families. These same students may still be learning English or living in foster care. To get these funds, district officials converse with parents, educators, students, and community members about how they think the supplemental funds should be spent. Now, having talked with 350 people in 26 different locations, it’s time to share the findings so far and discuss how this input will be used to shape the district’s Local Control and Accountability Plan.
